Abstract

Introduction: Occupational Therapy is experiencing sustained growth at a global level, with research culture development still in the process of consolidation. In this context, tensions persist within research and the production of local knowledge. Method: a quantitative descriptive study was conducted using a self-administered survey targeting occupational therapists from different parts of the world; this article presents the results from Argentina. The instrument included sociodemographic data, training and participation in research, and the Edmonton Research Orientation Survey (EROS). A total of 133 responses were collected and analyzed using descriptive frequencies, means, and standard deviations. Results: findings show a good orientation toward research (EROS: 115/180), highlighting a positive valuation of research and innovation. However, participation levels are low: only one-third of respondents are currently involved in research, although 39,4% express interest in doing so. Additionally, participants indicated that greater awareness of research opportunities, access to funding (both for conducting research and attending conferences), and support from more experienced colleagues would facilitate their involvement. Conclusion: there is a strong predisposition toward and appreciation of research among occupational therapists in Argentina; however, participation is limited by structural conditions, particularly material and time constraints. Strengthening access to funding and promoting collaborative networks among professionals with different levels of experience could enhance local knowledge production.
